A strong foundation in early childhood can make a lasting difference in a child’s life. From access to quality education to family resources and developmental support, the opportunities children receive during their earliest years can help shape their future success.
For 50 years, the Hispanic Human Resources Center (HHRC) has worked to strengthen families and expand access to early childhood education in Palm Beach County. On a recent episode of The Gold Standard Radio Show, GOLDLAW Founder and CEO Craig Goldenfarb sat down with Dr. Fabiana DesRosiers, CEO of HHRC, to discuss the organization’s history, its educational programs, and the important role it plays in helping local children and families thrive.
50 Years of Supporting Palm Beach County Families
For five decades, HHRC has been a resource for families throughout Palm Beach County, particularly those seeking access to quality early childhood education and essential support services.
As one of the county’s longest-serving Hispanic nonprofit organizations, HHRC has built its mission around helping children develop the skills they need to succeed while providing parents with resources to support their families.
Today, the organization serves more than 300 children through two early childhood education centers:
- New Pines Child Care Center
- Luciano Martinez Child Development Center
Through these locations, HHRC provides educational opportunities and comprehensive services designed to help children build a strong foundation during their most important developmental years.

More Than Childcare: Early Education That Makes a Difference
HHRC offers several early childhood education programs, including Head Start, Early Head Start, and Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK).
These programs serve young children, including those between the ages of one and four, and focus on preparing them for kindergarten and future academic success.
But as Dr. DesRosiers explains during her conversation with Craig, early childhood education involves much more than teaching children their letters and numbers.
HHRC takes a comprehensive approach to development that includes:
- Bilingual early childhood education
- Social and emotional development
- Health, nutrition, and behavioral screenings
- Developmental assessments and early intervention
- Support for children with disabilities and additional learning needs
- Family guidance and community resources
By addressing these areas together, HHRC helps children develop academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Identifying Developmental Needs Early
One of the most important aspects of HHRC’s work is helping families recognize and address developmental challenges during early childhood.
Through screenings, assessments, and specialized support services, the organization works to identify children who may benefit from additional assistance.
Early intervention can make a meaningful difference for children experiencing developmental delays or disabilities. By connecting families with appropriate resources and incorporating support into the educational environment, HHRC helps create opportunities for children to learn and develop according to their individual needs.
This approach also gives parents greater access to information and guidance as they navigate their child’s development.

Supporting the Entire Family
A child’s ability to succeed is closely connected to the support available at home.
That’s why HHRC’s mission extends beyond the classroom.
The organization works with families to connect them with community resources, educational guidance, and assistance that can help address challenges outside of school.
Through partnerships with local organizations, including food assistance providers, HHRC helps families access resources that contribute to a more stable and supportive home environment.
The center also emphasizes bilingual education and culturally responsive programming, helping children and families feel welcomed and supported while celebrating the diversity of Palm Beach County.

Encouraging Curiosity Through Hands-On Learning
HHRC incorporates creative learning opportunities that encourage children to explore, ask questions, and develop problem-solving skills.
Its educational approach includes STREAM activities, which bring together science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and mathematics in age-appropriate ways.
These experiences help children develop curiosity, creativity, and confidence while introducing concepts that will support their future learning.
HHRC also engages families and the community through educational celebrations and activities such as Read for the Record, Dr. Seuss Day, and its annual Fiesta de Primavera.
These events help reinforce the importance of reading, learning, and family involvement while bringing the community together in support of early childhood education.
Investing in Children Means Investing in Our Community
Throughout their conversation, Craig and Dr. DesRosiers explore the broader impact of providing children with access to quality education and support during their earliest years.
When families have access to reliable early childhood programs, children gain valuable opportunities to learn and grow, while parents receive additional support as they balance work, family responsibilities, and their children’s developmental needs.
Organizations like HHRC play an important role in helping make those opportunities available to families throughout Palm Beach County.
After 50 years of service, HHRC continues to build on that mission by investing in the next generation and helping create stronger families and communities.
From bilingual learning and developmental screenings to family resources and community partnerships, HHRC’s programs demonstrate how investing in children during their earliest years can create opportunities that last a lifetime.
