GOLDLAW is proud to announce that Founder & CEO Craig Goldenfarb, Esq. has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Red Sneakers for Oakley (RSFO), a 501(c)3 nonprofit established in 2016. RSFO was created by Merrill and Robert Debbs, after their 11-year-old son Oakley tragically passed away due to an anaphylactic reaction caused by a food allergy.
GOLDLAW was a key local presence at International Red Sneakers Day that took place on May 20, 2023, in Downtown West Palm Beach. Inspired to support the organization and its crusade to educate the public about food allergies because he suffers from a tree nut allergy like Oakley, Goldenfarb established an immediate connection with the Debbs’ family.

“Due to Craig’s challenges with food allergies, he will be an insightful and compassionate advocate for RSFO as a member of the Board of Directors,” said Director of Development Kim Medeiros. “Because Craig can personally relate to the need for advocacy and legislation for food allergy education and awareness, Red Sneakers for Oakley is thrilled to have Craig aboard as a BOD member.”
With its name taken from Oakley’s affinity for red athletic shoes, RSFO is grounded in its dedication to provide education that is needed between allergists, hospitals, first responders, parents, schools, and the general public. The foundation has dedicated its resources to education and advocacy for food allergy awareness by creating and supporting “Red Sneakers Days.” Participants wear their red sneakers, – or anything red – to raise awareness for the dangers of food allergies.
“As someone who suffers from a tree nut allergy, I’m well aware of the dangers an individual faces if they are exposed to the allergen. Over the years, I’ve gone into anaphylactic shock three times, and almost died,” said Goldenfarb. “Thankfully, restaurants, airlines, and schools are starting to take the problem more seriously, but we still have a lot of work to do with respect to educating the public about the severity of food allergies.”
