GOLDLAW Honors EMSHE Scholarship Winners
The 2024 Emanuel McMiller Scholarship for Higher Education (EMSHE), created by GOLDLAW Founder/CEO Craig Goldenfarb, recently celebrated its third anniversary, honoring three outstanding alumni of The Gerald A. Williams Center for Pre-Law at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School, in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The ceremony, held at GOLDLAW headquarters on May 31st, was a resounding success, with Emanuel McMiller himself on hand to help present the awards. This year’s $10,000 in scholarships was split among three deserving scholars, two of whom were past recipients:
- Ijahala Pottinger, a first-year student at Columbia Law School, who was also a 2023 scholarship winner, received $5,000.00.
- Andre’anna Hodges, a 2024 graduate of Palm Beach Lakes High School, and soon to be freshman at Florida Atlantic University, received $4,000.00
- Miriam Vidaurre-Zarate, a rising senior at Florida International University, received $1,000.00. She also received the scholarship in 2022 and 2023.
“It’s truly an honor to be part of these students’ journeys,” said Craig Goldenfarb. “Their dedication to the legal field is inspiring, and I’m proud that GOLDLAW and EMSHE can play a role in supporting their dreams.”
McMiller, the scholarship’s namesake, is an alumni of The Gerald A. Williams Center for Pre-Law, like all the scholarship recipients. After graduating from Williams College in 2014, McMiller worked at GOLDLAW as an Intake Specialist and Legal Assistant to gain experience before applying to law school. Here, Craig Goldenfarb mentored McMiller, helping him with his law school applications, writing recommendations and providing advice. This would help him gain acceptance to his number one choice, Notre Dame Law School, where he graduated with his J.D. in 2019. Now a litigation associate at Faegre Drinker in Indianapolis, McMiller counts his time at The Gerald A. Williams Center for Pre-Law as being extremely influential in helping him make the decision to pursue a legal career.
“The Center for Pre-Law and my experience at GOLDLAW were instrumental in helping me find my path to law school and a legal career,” he said. “I’m thrilled to see that Craig and his firm continues to offer these scholarships, as they are helping to empower the next generation of legal professionals.”
The EMSHE scholarships aim to bolster diversity in the legal field and provide critical support to students pursuing legal careers. To date, the program has awarded $30,000 to deserving students, helping them overcome financial barriers and achieve their academic and professional goals.
