According to his attorney, Sean Combs was arrested in New York City Monday night and taken into custody by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The arrest was made based on an indictment that is expected to be unsealed Tuesday morning, per a statement from the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. HIS, the lead investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for investigating transactional crime and threats, including human trafficking, terrorism, drug smuggling, and other activities of organized crime. ## **What Led to the Arrest?** On March 25, [federal agents conducted raids on two of Combs’ properties](https://goldlaw.com/blog/feds-raid-homes-owned-by-entertainment-mogul-sean-combs-after-allegations-of-sexual-assault-and-sex-trafficking/) in Los Angeles and Miami as part of an ongoing investigation into accusations of abuse and exploitation by his former girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, and other women. In November 2023, Ventura filed a sex trafficking and sexual abuse lawsuit against Combs. Combs’ companies Bad Boy Entertainment, Bad Boy Records, and Combs Enterprises, LLC, were also named in the claim. The suit settled for an undisclosed amount the next day. In December, 2023, an anonymous woman also filed a lawsuit alleging Combs and his associates raped her when she was just 27-years-old.
